Children are treated as children and allowed to learn as children. Adults should not try to make them learn like adults. Allow children to observe, to feel, to think and to express as children only. Adults must engage with children in such as way that they are excited and by showing them the path to explore more. Learners learn through a process of engaging, exploring, expressing as well as evaluating by peers. Teachers evaluations of children should not create fear in the mind of the children by comparing marks and scores of one child with others in the class. It should be understood that examinations / evaluations are meant for the teacher to know and understand the learning needs of each child so that he/she can modify the teaching methods.
Stress-free learning should be guaranteed to the children. Children should love the school, should be always ready to attend school, should learn happily with a free and frank mind. This will only happen in a process where learning is by self-involvement and group involvement of children. There should be no fear of failure or of competition in the child’s mind. Teachers are the guides to make them proactive. The child chooses the learning method and the teacher will allow the same as long the learning goals are within the scope of the curriculum. By allowing the freedom to chose how to learn, the teachers connect well and help ignite the inner passions and create a dream for the children to focus as well as achieve. The school is committed to raise up the dream of children and work around with all other subjects in such a way that the children are able to connect all other subject knowledge to their dreams and work hard themselves.
Achieving resilience by all children is the main goal of the school. Resilience
is the ability of a child to:
1. Struggle by self and struggle together with other children. Ability to
the struggle is a gift of god and teachers know how to make a child realize
his ability to struggle.
2. Be fearless and be confident; be able to raise up from every fall.
3. Not be shy and be willing to raise up and present himself/herself in
any company.
4. To consider each failure as an opportunity to explore further.
5. To be in peace and be patient to think, decide and act in any situation.
6. To practice restraint as a tool to face troubled situations and
disturbances of the mind.
7. Build clarity of thought and to have faith in one’s understanding, to
accept a truth as truth and have the courage to change, if corrected by
anyone else.
Mindful children play to find out what they learned in class rooms . They apply the concepts that they learned in the classroom while playing
Allow the children to be innovative beyond being creative. That includes the
following :
1. Break down a concept to its minutest parts and then reassemble the parts so that concepts are well understood. Encourage children to use concepts learned to apply in real life. Similarly, encourage them to
connect their real-life experience to concepts they learned in the
classroom.
2. Allow children to innovate beyond what has been already created.
3. Allow children to take risks in innovating.
4. Children understand that risk and innovation go together and they are
capable of doing the same.
Allow children to be connected to society. Let them meet people from all walks of life, professions, industries, agriculture, sports, arts as well as experience everything in nature that is with in their reach. This will help ignite a spark in their inner mind and help them identify what their real passion is and to decide on their dreams /goals.
Learning should result ultimately in the child’s ability to connect with nature and real life. School clubs, school forums are great ways for children to explore together. Schools must encourage children to be active in language clubs, science clubs, media clubs, art clubs, leadership clubs, philanthropic clubs etc in order to facilitate their learning through connecting with nature and real life.
Ability to express is considered as critical for all children. While learning languages is part of any school curriculum, using language to express one’s heart is an art. Reading, writing and speaking skills are the key to develop language skills.
Children should learn to relate mathematics in all that they do. Clubbing mathematics and arts will encourage children to love maths through its applications.
Children should be encouraged to relate the science lessions that they learn in classrooms to real life through self exploration. This is a good way to make them love science as a subject.
Children should be encouraged to develop an ability to care, ability to share, show sympathy, and ability to empathise with the conditions of the needy. They should learn how to give respect, a willingness to accept and appreciate others for what they are.
Ability to remain calm, wait in mindfulness, patience to conquer the impatience are effective methods to make good friends. Children will be encouraged to give liberty, justice and equality of opportunity to everyone around them. Children through learning, should imbibe charecteristics of being honest, truthful, transperent and express purity of heart in all that they do.
Learning should help children to build sharp awareness and alertness of mind. General awareness and alertness are skills that enable the child to deal with different life situations. Awareness also include health and safety awareness as well as building skills for self defence.
Teachers should allow all children to be treated equally in the school campus. No comparisons of children as good and bad based on class room assessments/ performance should be done. Never allow the child’s mind to be invaded by emotions such as jealousy and insecurity and never allow unethical competition amongst them. In fact their ability to work together, help each other and share with one another are far more important for their success in future.
Teachers are the best friends of children. They should love every child, accept them as their own children and should always guide them to be happy in school.
The teacher shall use examination as a tool to assess the level of understanding of a child then use the scores to modify the teachers’ approach to the individual child’s learning methods.
Teachers create learning passport of every child. Each passport reveals the talents and passions of a child. Passports evidence the self story of a child as well as collaborated story with others for each academic year.
No curricula based teaching shall be effective, unless it is embedded with
the following 5 skills of learning as well as its applications.
1. Nature skills and our intelligence to apply in our daily life.
2. Machine skills and our intelligence to apply in our life.
3. Digital skills and our ability to apply them in our daily life.
4. Artificial intelligence and robotic skills and our intelligence to apply in
our daily life.
5. Skills to blend the above four skills and apply them in specific contexts.
Teachers should be skilled to blend all the above skills with curriculum
based teaching and learning.
Shaping student behavior is an art and a skill of the teacher. Teachers should:1. Love all children and love them equally.
2. Give them the respect they deserve and let them learn to give respect to everyone.
3. Never abuse children in public.
4. Advise them in private.
5. Give them an equal opportunity to show up as well as perform in class forums. They are confident and willing to show up in all forums.
6. Allow children to have fun if they make mistakes. Children will do the right thing, learning from numerous mistakes.
7. Good behavior and discipline should be induced not by force, but from the inner sense of the children by practicing it and teachers are their
best guides.
Teachers know that art, music and fun activities are the best ways to good learning. Allow teachers the freedom to innovate in teaching methodologies.
Everything in a school is a learning tool for the teacher. Teachers know how to use nature around as tools for learning. Teachers allow children to connect with nature by engaging with them. They allow children to explore as well as connect to their natural talents. Teachers identify the passions of children and encourage them to find their life dreams. Teachers know how to blend the subject knowledge around the dream of every child. Therefore teachers are the greatest of human engineers.
